Computer Instruction

Computers

St. Christopher School is committed to the integration of cutting-edge technology into our entire curriculum, all in an effort to increase the effectiveness of our educational instruction.

Computer classes are taught once a week for kindergarten through eight grade by our computer instructor, Mrs. Jamie Salazar. The curriculum is focused on enabling the students to become highly proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. This suite is widely used in high school and beyond. Upon graduation from St. Christopher, student are positioned to successfully pass the Microsoft Office proficiency exam, which can enable them to test out of a high-school level class commonly required by area high school. Internet proficiency is also stressed.

The school is currently in the midst of a major upgrading to our computer labs and technology infrastructure. At the completion of this upgrade, our school's computing facilities will consist of three state-of-the-art computer labs: one dedicated for computer class instruction, one located in our library that is dedicated to research projects and integrated into our library curriculum, and a mobile laptop-based computer lab that moves among the classrooms and is integrated into our curriculum. In addition, each classroom contains several additional computers, where they can be used by students as needed to augment their studies.
