Music and Drama Music
Music is taught to all students in grades preschool through fifth grade. Each grade attends music class once per week for one semester of the year. Our music classes are held in the school music room and are taught by our music and drama teacher, Mr. Ronald Selle. Music instruction incorporates three areas of study: 1) Music Theory Here, students learn the rudiments of how music works and explore basic music composition.
2) Music appreciation
Student are exposed to and learn to enjoy a wide range of music genres and composers.
3) Music performance
Students are given the opportunity to perform by singing and playing musical instruments, both in the classroom and in public performances, such as our annual Spring Concert and talent shows. Drama
Drama classes are a new addition to the school curriculum for the 2010-11 school year. Students in sixth through eighth grade attend weekly drama classes for one semester. Classes are led by our music and drama teacher, Mr. Ronald Selle. During drama class, students are exposed to a variety of theatrical genres, including tragedy, comedy, improvisation and drama. For the 2011-12 school year, the drama curriculum will culminate with the
Christmas drama performances, which will be a religious-themed theater program exploring the story of our Lord Jesus Christ's birth.
In these performances, the students will perform a number of
short plays and skits, highlighting the skills and techniques they have learned during the year.
