Fred Masset ('80)

Fred Masset (class of 1980) is Design Manager for Interior Floor Console Engineering for Chrysler, working at the Chrysler Technology Center in Auburn Hills. He oversees the design and engineering of all interior floor consoles for all Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram products. One of Fred's greatest achievements was the successful launch of the Dodge Challenger, for which he had Interior Engineering responsibility. He earned his Bachelors Science in Mechanical Engineering from Univ. of Illinois Champaign-Urbana and his Masters Science in Mechanical Engineering from Univ. of Michigan-Dearborn

Barbara Long Stancik (class of 1946) attended St. Augustine Business School in Chicago and worked for a number of years for Armour and Co. in the Stockyards in Chicago. Barbara and her husband started and operated a number of successful retaurants in the Chicago area, including The Porterhouse Restaurant in Bridgeview and Maggie May's Restaurant in Orland Park/Mokena at l7lst and Wolf Road. She and her husband retired in 1995 and currently live in Morris, Il.

Stephanie Deguido ('05)

Stephanie Deguido (class of 2005) has recently achieved a number of academic honors at Southern Illinois University. Stephanie was named to the Dean's List (GPA of 3.7 or higher) in the College of Liberal Arts for the Spring, 2011 semester. She also has been selected to become a member of the University Honors Program, a highly selective program that allows students to graduate with a special "honors degree" that recognizes their academic achievement. Finally, Stephanie was inducted into the Sigma Alpha Lambda National Leadership and Honors Organization at SIU, an organization dedicated to promoting and rewarding academic excellence. Congratulations, Stephanie!
Maeve McDermott ('10)

Maeve McDermott (class of 2010) is a member of the Marist High School freshman/sophomore math team. The freshman/sophomore math team finished first in the Geometry competition at the Illinois State Math finals held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign. Earlier in the year, the team took third place in the 2011 Illinois Personal Finance Challenge. This competition took place at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago on April 7, 2011, with 80 high school students competing for the championship title. Congratulaions, Maeve, we are proud of your accomplishments!
Kyle Woodworth ('07)

Kyle Woodworth (class of 2007) received the Marist High School Medal of Excellence in Technology. This award is granted to the member of the Marist High School graduating class of 2011 that demonstrated the highest academic achievement in the area of computers and technology during his or her four years at Marist. Jim Olson ('82)

Jim Olson (class of 1982) is the General Manager of GameWorks in Schuamburg, a restaurant/entertainment complex for people of all ages. Gameworks/Schaumburg has annual sales of over $6 million per year and Jim is responsible for all aspects of its operations. He earned his B.A. from Illinois State University in 1987 with a "B" average. Prior to college Jim attended Marist High School, where he played on the soccer team for all four years.

Nancy (Schwickrath) Marek ('69)

Nancy (Schwickrath) Marek (class of 1969) lives and works in Tucson, AZ. She is an elementary teacher in her school's gifted program. Nancy attended the University of Arizona where she received a B.S. in Business Administration and a post-baccalaureate certificate in elementary education. Recently Nancy completed an M.Ed. in TESOL (teaching English to speakers of other languages). In addition to teaching, Nancy designs curriculm and conducts inservices for other teachers.

Ryan Anderl (2007) has been named an Old Spice Player of the Year at Bremen High School. The mission of this award is who motivate, inspire, and recognize varsity high school football players who show outstanding athletic performance, strong leadership, and the will to succeed on and off the field. Ryan will be eligible to become one of 50 national winners out of 10,000 participating high schools.

Christine (Hotwagner) Olander ('85)

Christine (Hotwagner) Olander ('85) is the owner and President of Atlas Revenue Cycle Solutions, a company which contracts with hospitals, large physician practices and surgery centers to audit their accounts receivable and to identify opportunities to maximize revenue and to recover lost revenue. Prior to starting her own company, Christine was Director of Patient Financial Services at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. Christine graduated from from Eckerd College in 1993 and then received her MBA in Business Strategy in 1999 from the Illinois Institute of Technology - Stuart School of Business. While in college, Christine played NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball where she received All Conference Honorable Mention.
Nancy (Pochinskas) Callaghan, ('69)

Nancy (Pochinskas) Callaghan, ('69) is owner of Callaghan Design, a provider of residential and commercial design solutions, space planning, and color coordination for interior/exterior spaces. Prior to this, Nancy was a post-operative nurse for cardiac patients. She is also very involved with Marist High School, being responsible for the renovation both the chapel and auditorium, and co-chairing the Decorations committee for the Christmas at Marist event, an event attended by 800 people. In recognition of her service to Marist, Nancy and her husband, Bill were awarded the Marist Laetare Award. She also received the Ite Ad Joseph award from St. Joseph College Seminary for service to the seminary. Nancy is an active parishioner at St. Christopher, and has been involved with PreCana, Mothers' Club, girl scouts, Fiesta, and more. She graduated from St. Xavier University with B.S in Nursing and a B.A. in Spanish.
Carla Connelly ('66)

Carla Connelly ('66) is a Librarian, working at South Suburban College. She attended Monticello College and Monmouth College, where she received her B.A. in 1974. While in college, she was a member of the Thespians and Library Guild. Carla then attended graduate school at Chicago State University, where she earned a Masters Degree in Library Science.

Two St. Christopher graduates from the class of 2010 are currently ranked number one and number two in the freshman class at Bremen High School. Jacob Zarobski is ranked first in the freshman class, out of 346 students, while Nicole Quitman is ranked second. Congratulations on your outstanding academic achievement!

Moira McDermott (class of 2009) has made the Dean's List at Marist High School with a cumulative grade-point-average of 5.62. Maeve (class of 2010), her sister, has also made the Dean's List with a GPA of 5.67 after the first semester.
Stan Potempa ('64)

Stan Potempa (’64) is owner of Scientific Spectrum Midwest Inc, which sells industrial laser systems for engraving, cutting and marking. Stan earned an academic scholarship from Lewis Univ., where he graduated in 1972 with high honors, majoring in Physics and Math and minoring in Education. He also earned an MBA in Marketing in 1983 from the Keller Graduate School in Chicago. While at Lewis, Stan ran Cross Country and earned two varsity letters. Stan attended Eisenhower High School in Blue Island, where he was on the National Honor Society, orchestra and Latin club, and graduated in the top 10 percent of his class. He is an Eagle Scout from Boy Scout Troop 358.

John Coyne ('51)

John Coyne ('51) is a noted author of a number of non-fiction works of literature. He has a Masters in English Literature, and has attended St. Louis University, Western Michigan University and Georgetown Univ. One of his recent works was the novel "The Caddy who knew Ben Hogan", which is based on his childhood experiences of growing up by the Midlothian Country Club. James Holeman ('79)

James Holeman, ('79) is a successful independent business owner and landlord. James graduated from the Univ. of Illinois at Chicago with a Bachelors Degree, where he achieved High Honors status. He then moved to Hawaii, where he started his own business. After several years of successful operation, he sold this business and has since started a second one. Additionally, he is a landlord, owning several rental properties.
Thomas Haimann ('80)

Thomas Haimann ('80) is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He currently works as a Senior Accounting Manager at Walgreens Company, where he has worked for 15 years. He manages a staff of two senior accountants. While at Walgreens, Thomas has managed many areas in his division, including Billing, AR/Collections, and General Accounting. Thomas received a Bachelors Degree in Commerce with a major in Accounting from DePaul Univeristy in 1993. He passed the CPA exam in June, 1998.
Katie Windsor (2001)

Katie Windsor (2001) is a certified public accountant (CPA) at BDO Seidman in Chicago and was recently inducted into the Illinois Certified Public Accountants Society. She passed all four of the CPA exams on the first attempt, a feat achieved by less than 10% of nationwide candidates. Katie studied accounting at Illinois Wesleyan Univ. and graduated Magna Cum Laude. In college she was a member of the volleyball and softball teams. Katie attended Bremen High School and was ranked first in her class all four years and was named Class Valedictorian upon graduation. Additionally, in high school she achieve All-Conference status in Volleyball in her junior and senior years and All-Conference in basketball her senior year.
Mark Carmen ('66)

Mark Carmen (’66) has been a high school English teacher for 34 years. Additionally, he has coached high school football and track during this time, including 5 state championship and 2 state runner-up football teams while at Mount Carmel High School in Chicago. He was named Chicago Catholic League Coach of the year for track in 1998. A number of students who Mark has taught or coached have gone into coaching and/or teaching English because of his influence. Mark received his B.A. at Elmhurst College and his Masters degree at Drake University. While in college he served his country when drafted into service. Mark participated in track, baseball and football while in high school, and in football and track in college.
Diane Carmen ('62)

Diane Carmen ('62) is an attorney, licensed in Colorado. She has a law practice specializing in employment and civil rights law and also is a federal government contractor performing legal investigations for the Department of the Interior and the Department of Veterans Affairs. She began her career as a first grade teacher and Title I reading specialist, and later as a Director of a small private Early Childhood program. She then completed her law degree and became an attorney. Diane received her undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana, and her law degree from the University of Denver. She attended Mother McAuley High School, where she achieved honor roll status every semester, including "gold" honors in her junior and senior year. During high school, she was a cheerleader and played on the school basketball team for two years.

Alice McAdams Cahill (’88) is a special ed teacher for the severe and profound population at Tinley Park schools. She received her undergraduate degree from Illinois Benedictine (graduating cum laude) and her Masters from Northern Illinois. She is working on her doctorate at Illinois State.
