Our school was selected to join the Rowland Reading Super School Initiative, which aims to create excellence in
primary-grade reading instruction. We will be featuring the "Superkids" reading program, which is a comprehensive,
phonics-based reading & language arts program. Our teachers have undergone
training with reading experts to guarantee academic achievement. For more information see the

We are proud to announce that our school has been selected to operate as a Board Initiative School by the Archdiocese of Chicago,
under the leadership of the Archdiocesan school superintendent. The Office of Catholic Schools will be
providing support and resources to help our school continue to grow and thrive. You can learn more and read quotes from Principal Johnson in the

SouthtownStar article.
We would like welcome our new 5th grade teacher, Ms. Meghan McMaster.
New family registration is ongoing for all grades.
The next open house for prospective families is on Tues, Sept. 14 from 9-11am & 12:30-2:15pm.

Preschool orientation was held on Tuesday, August 30th, with classes beginning on Sept. 1.

Thanks to all who participated in August's Market Day.
We had 18 customers and earned $117.01, for a total of $3,361.13 raised since September 2009.
News about our Graduates
Donald Gross ('06) was named Valedictorian and Julianne Velcich ('06) named Salutatorian of the Bremen High School class of 2010. Donald has been accepted into Northwestern University. Ashley Godin ('06) was Valedictorian of Marist High School class of 2010. She will be attending the Univ. of Michigan. Maeve McDermott ('10) was awarded a Presidential Commendation for her academic performance and received an academic scholarship from Marist High School. Francisco Melgoza ('10) received the Pace Memorial Scholarship and will be attending Brother Rice High School in the Quigley's Scholars Program.
